After his 12 hours on the cross, Heath is allowed to “rest” strapped on his back to the horizontal X-cross – his bed for the night. The next day, the man in charge orders Jared to check Heath’s pulse. Sure enough, the young man is strong enough to have recovered from the horror of the cross. Now his torture continues – with two particularly painful sessions of whipping. The bottom of his feet are beaten with the crop, sending him into spasms of pain.
